學校簡介 About Us

Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology (CTUST) was founded by Dr. Chen Tien-Chi in 1966 under the name of Chung Tai Medical Junior College, and it was upgraded to the Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology in the year of 2005. CTUST is located in Takeng scenic area, the back garden of Taichung City, CTUST has a breathtaking view when overlooking the entire city from the campus. Also, Taichung City is located in Western Taiwan; it has been officially ranked as Taiwan's second most populous city since July 2017. The city is home to the National Museum of Natural Science and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, as well as many cultural sites, including the historic Taichung Park, the Lin Family Gardens, and many temples. By studying in CTUST, students will not only gain knowledge and skills but also experience cultural diversity and the natural beauty.

Over the years, CTUST has been a comprehensive university cultivating medical, health and managerial professionals based on advanced technology and humanistic principles. In addition to professional knowledge, students are equipped not only with excellent expertise but also with medical ethics and skills. To help our students establish links to the international community, CTUST has committed efforts to collaborate with multinational industries and universities to activate student internships and study exchanges abroad. Our students possess not only professional skills, certificates, and licenses but also a disposition to serve and assist those in need. More than 60,000 students have graduated from CTUST and have served in medical centers as well as other domains. The alumni of CTUST can be found all over the world. There is a saying in Central Taiwan that CTUST is “4,2,3,1.” . The meaning of this saying is that, in central Taiwan, statistically one out of every four nurses, one out of every three medical examiners, and one out of every two radiologists has graduated from CTUST. And more surprisingly and specifically, nearly one hundred percent of dental technologists in Central Taiwan are graduates of the Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology.

The university aims at both the cultivation of elite professionals and the establishment of practical industry-university cooperation. These aims are pursued under following our valued core spirit: “Loyalty, Trust, Sincerity, and Respect”. In 2020 CTUST was ranked 9th in the category of medical universities in Taiwan in Global Views Monthly magazine's “Best University Rankings.”

The Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology offers certificate and degree programs at the associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels through three degree-granting colleges. The three colleges are the College of Health Sciences, the College of Nursing, and the College of Humanities and Management.  In total, these colleges are comprised of fourteen academic departments, offering nine graduate programs and one interdepartmental master's degree program.

CTUST is an educational institution which emphasizes not only professional expertise but a humanistic orientation towards the affirmation of life. In addition to the delivery of knowledge and skills, we especially endeavor to work within and support the local community. It is our sincere hope that our students will develop not only professional skills, but also the ethical and compassionate desire to be of service to others.
