學校簡介 About Us

Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) was established in 1954. Apart from being the first private medical university in Taiwan, the university has also become an important cradle for highly-skilled physicians and medical-related specialists.

KMU has all the strengths of a well-established university. There are wide ranges of high standard medical related courses, and the facilities in both basic and clinical research are varied and of good quality. The university has more than 6,400 students and 500 faculty members. Nowadays, the university which consists of 7 colleges and is affiliated with 4+1 hospital has become the leading medical institution in Southern Taiwan.

The University is located in the city center of Kaohsiung, the biggest city in southern Taiwan, which provides all kinds of attractions and excitements of a modern city life.

KMU Healthcare System: The 1st and most important affiliated hospital of KMU, Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital (KMUH) passed consecutively the International Hospital accreditation in 2016 and in 2019 and was the first JCI qualified medical center in southern Taiwan. During 1998~2014, KMUH won bids from the Kaohsiung City Government for the management of Kaohsiung Municipal Hsiao-Kang Hospital (KMHK), Kaohsiung Municipal Ta-Tung Hospital (KMTTH) and Kaohsiung Municipal Ci-jin Hospital (KMCH). The plan of the fifth affiliated hospital, Kaohsiung Medical University Gang-Shan Hospital was approved by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and will be in operation from 2023. With these regional hospitals, KMUH has formed a healthcare system encompassing around 3,200 beds.

KMU has exceptional performance in the THE Impact Rankings 2021, placing 3rd in Taiwan, and 1st among private universities in Taiwan. KMU also achieved excellent results in SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) performance placing 10th globally and 1st in Taiwan. Following the international recognition of outstanding efforts from the faculty and students on sustainable development, KMU has realized its vision of "becoming a world-class international medical university that promotes human health and well-being".

KMU is a fully-developed medical university that consists of 7 Colleges, which are College of Medicine, College of Dental Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, College of Life Sciences, and College of Humanities and Social sciences. Each year, KMU offers more than 300 places in degree programs for overseas students to pursue higher education/ research. Type A: NTD 200,000~260,000 per year (monthly stipend, accommodation coverage and tuition fee are included)

Type B: NTD 80,000~140,000 per year (accommodation coverage and tuition fee are included)

Type C: NTD 70,000~80,000 per year (tuition fee) 

Taiwan Scholarship

MOE Scholarship: TWD 80,000 for tuition fee per year, NTD15,000 (undergraduate)/ NTD 20,000 (master’s & Ph.D.) stipend per month

MOFA/MOST Scholarship: NTD 30,000 stipend per month

TaiwanICDF Scholarship

Pei-Ying Scholarship

Award: NTD300,000 per year

Qualification of Recipient: Be a lecturer/ Associate professor/ Assistant Professor/ Professor as career in Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Bangladesh or Laos. Applicants must prepare the certified documents of their job when submit application to KMU. The name list of recipients will be recommended by KMU and reviewed by MOE..
