History of NTUE

    The National Taipei University of Education (NTUE) began in 1895, 16 years beforeRepublic of China was founded, was initially named “National Taipei Teachers College”. Following the retrocession of Taiwan from Japan in 1945, the Government renamed the school “Taiwan Provincial Normal School” in December that year. In 1961, the school’s name changed again to “Taiwan Provincial Junior Teachers College”, and then, upgraded to “Taiwan Provincial Taipei Normal College” in 1987. In 1991, it was renamed to “National Taipei Teachers College” before the final current name of “National Taipei University of Education” in 2005.

Prospects

    NTUE continues to be the cradle of training elementary school teachers. We strive to be an excellent and innovative university specializing in teachers training and educational research.

International Cooperation

    National Taipei University of Education actively pursues a policy of international academic collaboration. Links with higher education institutions worldwide are formed and maintained through formal academic agreements, exchange programs, symposia and visits. At present, the University has solid relationships with more than 100 universities, and institutions around the world. Many of the faculty members have visited overseas academic partners for research and fact-finding purposes. International scholars are frequently invited to the university to give lectures or participate in symposia. The University strives to expand and strengthen its connections with other well-known institutions in the world and aims to make itself a valuable partner to all cooperative institutions in the years to come.

Location

    NTUE is centrally located in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan and the biggest city. Taipei offers a wide variety of things to see and do, appealing to visitors and students around the world. Taipei is home to world-famous and one of the world’s tallest building—Taipei 101. More importantly, the school is in the heart of Taipei’s cultural and financial district, and is near to the world renowned National Palace Museum, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Taipei 101, Ximending, Yangmingshan National Park and many other city attractions.

獎學金 Scholarships

NTUE International Students Scholarship aims to recruit outstanding students of foreign nationality to study at NTUE and promote academic internationalization.

  • Eligibility: International degree students who meet the article 2 of “International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan” (an individual of foreign nationality, who has never held nationality status from the Republic of China and who does not possess an overseas Chinese student status at the time of their application).
  • Qualified applicants:
    • A newly admitted and outstanding student who has not received any other scholarships (including any other scholarships from the Taiwan government).
    • Outstanding international students in NTUE.
  • Application Schedule and Materials:
    • Please apply to the Division of International Affairs according to this guideline.
    • New student: Application form.
    • Current student: Application form, Transcripts, Certificate of Registration.
  • Amount and Award Period of the Scholarship:
    • Undergraduate students:
      • Amount of scholarships: NTD $4,000 to 6,000 per month/per person.
      • Award Period: September to December (New student) January to December (Current student)
    • Graduate students:
      • Amount of scholarships: NTD$ 6,000 to 8,000 per month/per person.
      • Award Period: September to December (New student) January to December (Current student)
    • The number of recipients for each year is subject to the amount of funds allocated to NTUE by the Ministry of Education.
    • The maximum length of time a student is entitled to receive the scholarship is four academic years for undergraduate students, two academic years for students in master programs, and four academic years for students in doctoral programs.
    • Awardees shall provide administrative assistance to the respective department or administrative office for at least 72 hours per year. 6. The scholarship should be terminated immediately after awardees’ suspension, withdrawal or graduation from studies; the scholarship received should be reclaimed.
