National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech) was founded in 1912, the year when the Republic of China came into existence, as a pioneering academic institute dedicated to industrial education. It has been renamed since then Taiwan Public Industrial School of Taipei (1919), National Taipei Institute of Technology (1981), and National Taipei University of Technology (1997). Today at Taipei Tech, there are over ten thousand students in seventy programs in six colleges. Taipei Tech has since produced some of the most influential entrepreneurs, leaders, educators, and researchers in the science and industrial field and is commonly referred to as “the birthplace of future entrepreneurs.” The University is also engaged in a number of local and international projects related to university social responsibility. It has partnership with top institutions throughout the world. There are more than 900 international students from 53 countries studying at Taipei Tech, and we seek every opportunity to send our students abroad to study and to participate in international events.
Taipei Tech deeply integrates entrepreneurship into everything. Aside from their major courses, students also take general studies courses in business and are encouraged to participate in talks and competitions that spark their entrepreneurial spirit. Taipei Tech Innovation & Incubation Center (IIC) provides resources and administrative support for a number of start-up companies each year. A group of Taipei Tech alumni now serving as high executives in Taiwan’s publicly traded companies have also formed Taipei Tech Development Inc., a start-up accelerator, that aims to help Taipei Tech students and faculty turn their ideas and research results into profitable companies.
Our university is a strong research partner to many industries and businesses in Taiwan, providing numerous technology transfers each year and having co-established several research and incubation centers. Various centers, labs, and faculties at our university provide supportive research environments that encourage researchers from different disciplines to work together to address the world's problems. We integrate problem-based learning and internships into our degree programs. Students not only acquire domain knowledge, but also acquire transferrable skills that can be used anywhere. Therefore, our students are versatile and ready for a wide range of challenges. Graduates of our program are both highly employable and also capable of pursuing independent pursuits.
