Nanhua University (NHU) was founded in 1996 by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Funded through the support of millions of Fo Guang Shan followers, NHU is the first comprehensive and multidisciplinary university established by Fo Guang Shan. NHU is a member of the Fo Guang Shan University Consortium, the country’s first cross-nation university system.

Our educational philosophy is based on the principles of diligence, honesty, and humility. These principles are the defining qualities and driving force at NHU to cultivate students to realize their goals, make a leading contribution to society, and serve the disadvantaged and underprivileged. The curricula and programs offered at NHU center around Life Education, Environmental Sustainability, Intellectual Innovation, and the Three Acts of Goodness initiative.

NHU has approximately 5,400 students in the school, including more than 230 international students from 20 countries. There are five colleges: College of Management, College of Humanities, College of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Design, and College of Science and Technology, with a total of 20 undergraduate programs, 22 graduate programs, and 2 doctoral program.

We also make partnerships with more than 220 universities and more than 300 Fo Guang Shan temples around the world. We provide excellent overseas study opportunities for students. Every year, about 600 students, which is 10% of total students, attend international conferences or study abroad programs. They can participate in dual degrees program, short-term exchanges, study tours, overseas internships, and international volunteers.

For International students, we provide excellent scholarships. The tuition for the first semester is free or pay miscellaneous expenses depend by Entrance score. From the second semester, the top 15% of the class will continue to enjoy the free tuition and miscellaneous expenses; 16-40% of the class only pay miscellaneous expenses.

We have 4 programs taught in English, which makes language not a barrier for exploing the world anymore. Moreover, Nanhua provides elective Chinese language courses. Cultivating international prospects in Nanhua will be the best choice!
