MoE Taiwan scholarship 2021



The Taiwan Scholarship Program aims to encourage outstanding foreign students to continue their education in Taiwan. For those of you who are interested in applying, please read the Taiwan Scholarship Program Guideline (Appendix 1) first.



1. Registration period: February 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021.



2. Required Documents:

(1) Taiwan Scholarship application form (Attachment 2);

(2) Photocopy of passport and family card;

(3) Photocopy of diploma and transcripts of the latest educational grades that have been issued

(The above document must be in English or Chinese. If the document is not in English or Mandarin, it must be translated into English or Mandarin, and legalized. If you are a graduate from abroad, the diploma and transcript need to be legalized at the TETO office. in that country (please refer to Annex 3 for legalization procedures);

(4) Photocopy or scanned proof of university registration form which shows that the participant has applied to a university in Taiwan

(example: photocopy of proof of registration money transfer, university registration form, photocopy of receipt of registration form, email, etc.);

(5) Two letters of recommendation that have been signed and tightly sealed in an envelope

(example: by the Principal, Chancellor, Dean, Professor or Supervisor).

Letter of recommendation in the form of email or photocopy is NOT VALID.

(6) Photocopy of language proficiency certificate:

a. Study programs NOT in English:

· Photocopy of the certificate "Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language" (TOCFL) with a minimum intermediate level (B1). Did not accept any other Chinese language certificates other than TOCFL.

b. Study programs that use English (Attachment 4):

· Photocopy of the official TOEFL certificate or other English language certificate that is recognized internationally.

If you register for an English study program that is not listed in Appendix 4, you need to attach a certificate issued by the university (not the department office) stating that the study program uses English as the language of instruction.



* In addition to sending the required documents to TETO, you are also MANDATORY to fill out the online form at the following link:

(If you only send the required documents to TETO without filling out the online form, then the scholarship registration is not accepted by TETO

Scholarship allowances provided:

(1) Living expenses allowance:

· Undergraduate students will be awarded NT $ 15,000, - (equivalent to 530 USD) / month.

· S2 and S3 will be awarded NT $ 20,000, - (equivalent to 710 USD) / month.

(2) Tuition fees and other academic fees:

· The Taiwan Ministry of Education will provide a maximum subsidy of NT $ 40,000, - / semester for each student. If the required cost exceeds NT $ 40,000, then the scholarship recipient will bear the excess costs.

(3) Scholarship recipients will pay for:

· Administrative costs;

· Thesis / thesis / dissertation supervisor fees;

· Insurance premium;

· Accommodation costs;

Internet fees, and other fees.



5. Duration of the scholarship:

(1) S1 Program: Maximum 4 years.

(2) S2 Program: Maximum 2 years.

(3) Doctoral Program: Maximum 4 years.

The total duration of receiving the scholarship cannot be more than 5 years.



6. Scholarship applicants are MANDATORY to register independently in advance to university.



7. Scholarship announcement:

TETO will send individual scholarship announcements to each scholarship recipient via email before 4 June 2021.



8. In connection with the Taiwan entry restriction policy, which means that Taiwan scholarship recipients in 2020 cannot go to Taiwan. Therefore, we appeal to Taiwan scholarship recipients in 2020 who are still interested in continuing their studies in Taiwan to re-register for scholarships.
