The 8th Mandarin Teacher Training
Mandarin Teacher Training has become TECSID’s annual agenda held twice a year. At the end of the 2021 semester, TECSID held the 8th Mandarin Teacher Training from 6-7 Nov and 13-14 Nov by inviting five teachers from Taiwan, Shueh-Fang Lin, Yi-Ju Chang, Ting-Ting Huang, Yi-Jing Chen, and Joey Chen.
On November 6, 2021, The event was opened with the opening remarks from by the Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Community Development, Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si and General Director of TETO Surabaya, Mr. Benson Lin. Prof. Nyoman welcomed the teachers and participants. In his opening, Prof. Nyoman conveyed the achievement of collaboration between UNAIR and Asia University through activities that have been carried out by TECSID, which have been in existence since 2017.
After the opening ceremony, enter the first training event delivered by Instructor Shueh-Fang Lin. This four-day training will convey many things about Mandarin grammar to the teachers to better understand mandarin and teach it to their students.
Apart from grammar, this training also provides training on using various digital applications that will support teaching and learning activities for Chinese teachers in Indonesia delivered by Instructor Ting-Ting Huang.
In addition to deepening teachers’ knowledge of Mandarin teaching, this training also provides some craft activities to teach their students delivered by Instructor Yi-Ju Chang.
In terms of the technique of teaching Chinese to children, Instructor Joey Chen delivered it perfectly. And lastly, Instructor Yi-Jing Chen from Shuo Ba Language Center delivered material on how to teach “Listening and Speaking” to foreign speakers.
The teachers came from various cities in Indonesia, not only from Surabaya. The teachers who joined this event came from Jakarta, Semarang, Riau, Medan, Nunukan, Bandung, Bali, and various other regions.
