Webinar THEF 2021: Visa & Document Legalization for Study in Taiwan
The Online Taiwan Higher Education Fair 2021 followed with a series of events to actively support Indonesian students in planning their future education to study in Taiwan by holding a Webinar on Visa & Document Legalization for Study in Taiwan. The webinar invited the representative of the Visa Division, Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Surabaya. Regarding the prevention of COVID-19, there have been some changes in the visa and document legalization for study in Taiwan.
As of 10 August 2021, the Taiwan government still do not open visa application for Mandarin course, training/internship, and exchange program. The representative shared information on frequently asked questions about International students and Overseas Chinese Students due to the limited time. There are four highlighted documents that applicants need to pay close attention to. The first document is the MOE letter which the university sent. After getting the letter, the applicant needs to call or email TETO to confirm whether the MOE letter number and their names have been registered. The applicant must also bring the medical check-up document and language(s) certificate.
As for document legalization, the representative of the Document legalization document explained that a couple of processes need to be done by the applicant before TETO can legalize their documents (e.g., diploma [ijazah], transcript, etcetera). The documents must be translated into English or traditional Mandarin and legalized by the school. If the school cannot produce the translation for the documents, the documents need to be translated by a sworn translator. After being legalized by the school, the documents need to be legalized by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
